Dallas Appraisal District’s COVID-19 Procedures

  • Dallas has eluded to delaying notices but has not formally announced anything yet.
  • If notices are sent out after April 15th, the deadline to file an appeal will be 30 days from the date the notice was mailed. (i.e. if notices are sent out on May 1st, the deadline to file an appeal will be May 31st at midnight).
  • UPDATED April 10th, 2020: Dallas has sent out an email to property tax agents informing us that they plan on sending notices out on May 15th, making the deadline to file an appeal June 15th, assuming the shelter in place order in Dallas County is not extended. The earliest the deadline will be is June 15th.
  • Here is a help center article on how to file an appeal in Dallas online.
  • DCAD is going to do a “beta” test of ARB hearings done via telephone at the end of April. There will be one ARB panel member (there are usually three) and one district appraiser. This is all we know of this process so far and will keep a close eye on it.
  • Dallas CAD’s office is currently closed to the public through April 30th as of now.
